Linkjar Help

How do I share a Word document as a link?

Upload your .doc or .docx file to Linkjar and you'll get a clean link that opens as a read-only document in any browser, no Word needed, no editing possible.

How to do it

  1. Go to the Word to link page.
  2. Drop your .doc or .docx file.
  3. Linkjar converts it to a PDF so it renders identically on every device, then gives you a shareable link.
  4. Copy the link and send it wherever you like: email, Slack, LinkedIn, a job application.

Your recipient just clicks the link. No Word, no download, no "this file may be unsafe" warning.

  • It looks right everywhere. Word documents can reflow depending on the reader's app, fonts, and version. The converted version is pixel-stable, so what you see is what they see.
  • It can't be accidentally edited. Recipients view a read-only copy rather than a file they could change and pass on.
  • It's always current. Update the document from your dashboard and the same link shows the new version, no resending needed.
  • It won't bounce. A link is a few bytes, so it gets past size limits that can block large attachments.

Before you share

  • Accept or reject any tracked changes and delete comments. These can carry over into the rendered version if left in.
  • Check page breaks. The document paginates like a printed page, so use Print Layout in Word to see what your reader will see.
  • Remove personal metadata using Word's document inspector if the author history matters to you.

Is it free?

Yes. Uploading a Word file, converting it, and getting a share link are all free. You also get a QR code, an embed snippet, and view tracking. Paid plans add more documents, larger files, a custom domain, and the option to remove Linkjar branding.

If you need people to edit the document

A rendered link from Linkjar is read-only by design, which is the point if you want the document to stay exactly as you sent it. If you actually want the recipient to edit or comment, this isn't the right tool, you'd want a OneDrive, SharePoint, or Google Docs link with edit permissions instead.
